Photo Gallery | Memories of Spokane flooding found in childhood photo album
There has to be a correlation between spring cleaning and nostalgia. Digging up dusty boxes is sure to turn up forgotten treasures like photographs of Spokane flooding. Wayne Foreman emailed us a generous amount of the above photos he took on his 110 camera in either 1969 or 1970. Foreman says he was about 10 at the time.
Foreman says his mother took him and his siblings, Kathy and Ron, around Spokane to see the flooding.
“The pictures have been in my childhood album and haven’t been seen before now for many years,” Foreman wrote in an email.
They’re scanned so they’re a little grainy, but you can spot what might be Peaceful Valley and then Monroe Street Bridge, Upriver Dam to Green Street.
Help us identify a little more in these photos. If you recognize the locations, give us a comment! And if you ever come across neat photos like this while spring cleaning, forward them to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
