Photo Gallery | Cuban Missile Crisis comes alive at the MAC
The countdown is on for the arrival of a fascinating new exhibit at the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture. The MAC and the Honor Point Military & Aerospace Museum have partnered to bring us "Secret Spokane - Center of the Cold War."
The exhibit explores Spokane's pivotal role during the Cuban Missile Crisis to mark the 50th anniversary of that historic event. For thirteen days in October 1962, the U.S was seemingly on the brink of nuclear war with the Soviet Union and Cuba, and the only nuclear missiles capable of hitting Cuba were located right here in Eastern Washington.
The MAC exhibit will feature a recreated Atlas missile launch control room along with historic photos of the missile sites surrounding the city of Spokane.
The exhibit runs from October 17 to 27. The MAC is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Click here for more information.
