Spokane special effects expert helps debunk Bigfoot hoax

It's a story that's gone viral with Spokane connections. A Texas man claimed he shot and killed Bigfoot, and has driven the body around the country charging people $10 to see it. A Spokane man is refuting those claims, because he built the Bigfoot prop the man is using.

"Step right up...they are going to see Bigfoot, and I am going to tell you it is a real Bigfoot," Rick Dyer told KSAT-TV in San Antonio outside of his trailer supposedly holding the beast in January.

Rick Dyer has claimed he shot and killed Bigfoot for a year and a half. In January, he was offering the public a chance to see the body for themselves.

"Come in and take a peak and listen to my story and see my evidence first-hand and you can make up your own mind," Dyer said.

According to multiple media reports, Dyer admitted last week the Bigfoot body was fake. Now, for the first time, Spokane artist Chris Russell can talk about it.

"I gave him what he asked for. He called and paid for it, and we put it on the board and did it, we made his body," Russell said.

Prank a pal by sending a goat

Prank a pal by sending a goat

Looking for the perfect  prank? Send a friend a goat!

Spokane Produce Incorporated is sponsoring the "Send a Friend a Goat" event from April 14-18. For a $50 donation to Wishing Star you can send a baby goat to an unsuspecting friend or coworker. The volunteers will playfully threaten to leave the goat unless they are paid off with any donation amount.

Think you're going to get a goat delivered to you? You can buy goat insurance for $100!

The program doesn't happen without the help of volunteers. Teams of 2 or 3 volunteers can choose one or more days during the week of April 14-18 to deliver the goats to unsuspecting recipients in the greater Spokane community. Volunteers are provided with lunch and a schedule, and will be out delivering 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Nudist Communities Attempt to Break Skinny Dip Record

Nudist Communities Attempt to Break Skinny Dip Record

In a region surrounded by lakes and rivers, late night skinny dipping is as much a part of summer as lemonade and watermelon. This year, area nudist resorts and clubs are inviting the extended community to join them as they try to break a record for the most people skinny dipping at one time.

The World Record Skinny Dip Across America event is sponsored by the American Association for Nude Recreation and The Nudist Society and is an attempt to break the AANR's previous record. In 2008, the AANR organized the largest skinny dipping event across the nation and became the official holder of the Guinness World Record.

This year's attempt to beat the 13,674 participants from the last event is not an official Guinness sanctioned event, but rather a chance for the AANR to set a personal best. Groups across the country will be jumping in the water naked, but for local nudists it is a chance to tell the community what they are all about.

Beginning tonight the Spokane County Courthouse will be pretty in pink to support the annual Susan G. Komen "Race for the Cure" in Spokane.

The "Race for the Cure" is next Sunday, April 21st. The idea to change the tower lights was a unanimous decision by the Spokane County Board of Commissioners.

"It is vital for all of us to show support for patients and their families, raise funds for research, and work together to find a cure," said Shelly O'Quinn, Board Chair.

The lights will glow pink every night from tonight, April 12th, to Sunday, April 21st.
