Not a white Christmas, but a nice one | Weather
First, I would like to thank the folks at the National Weather Service here in Spokane for the great work that they do. They do a lot so that we can give you the reports on TV and radio, Merry Christmas gang and thanks.
Many have wished for a white Christmas, and many years you get your wish. Not this year.
Greg at NWS helped me with some research, and in the last 20 years we have had a "brown" Christmas 9 times.
So this year is not that unusual with 32 forecasted and partly cloudy.
The snowiest was back in 1998 when we got 5.2 inches of new snow on Christmas. In 2008 it was Snowmageddon with 20" on the ground and more to follow.
Temperature wise we will be right where we need to be, however, in 2005 it hit a balmy 48 degrees and in '96 we were only 22 degrees for the high.
Travel conditions will be good to and from Grandma's house this year and the mountain passes are in great shape, so is skiing.
Winter sports rock and bikes can be tried out after Santa has gone.
Enjoy the holiday and peace be with you and yours.
