Spider puncher reveling his victory, 15 minutes of fame | News
It was the punch seen round the world: 2011 Mead High School grad Nick Runyan is making noise across the Internet with his now famous brass knuckle spider killing YouTube video.
Runyan posted the video Monday night and it already has nearly half a million views.
We've all encountered a spider before, but instead of killing the eight-legged creature peacefully, Runyan, 20, got creative.
"I just saw the spider and pressed play on my camera and started filming," he explained.
video The result was a video of Nick vs. the spider. The two-minute clip certainly has turned into Runyan's 15 minutes of fame.
"It was like that big," he said, using his hands to show how big the spider was. "I just saw it, and we made eye contact, and he gave me the 'I am going to wrap you up and eat you' so I had to take care of business," Runyan said.
In the process he also took care of the wall which didn't have a fist-sized hole in it yet too.
Runyan is the youngest of four boys, and while this wasn't the first hole in his family's house, it's definitely become the most famous.
"I didn't even feel it, it just went right through," he said.
Nick's a bit of a goofball, but he's just having fun.
"I was just looking for something that would be creative to take the spider out," he said.
And don't think this is the end of the story; a spider sequel could be coming to a computer screen near you.
"It will be a surprise; I'll pick my time," Runyan said.
