Title (Max 100 Characters)
For the first time in more than 100 years, 14th and 15th avenues in the west Spokane neighborhood known as Vinegar Flats are being paved.
The streets are currently closed to through traffic and dug up as crews first install water lines and then prepare the ground for paving.
Although Vinegar Flats is one of Spokane's historic neighborhoods, the two avenues have never been paved. People often had to navigate potholes and ruts.
When the $200,000 projects is complete the avenues between Inland Empire Way and Chestnut will have smooth surfaces, curbs and sidewalks.
The projects is part of the city's 10 year street bond program.
