Cheney teacher honored as regional "Teacher of the Year" | News
Nine finalists have been invited to Seattle later this month for the state's "Teacher of the Year" announcement ceremony.
A teacher from Cheney High School was one of the finalists selected. Monte Syrie currently teaches language arts at the school and has been apart of the faculty for the past nine years.
He was selected as the regional winner for ESD 101 this year and previously won the regional honor in 2006.
The state winner will be announced on September 17 by state superintedent Randy Dorn during a 1:30 p.m. ceremony.
