Tech and water rescue at TJ Meenach Bridge | News

Spokane fire crews rescued a couple Monday night who got lost while floating down the Spokane river.

Crews said they got a call just before 9 that a man and his girlfriend had been floating down the river near the T.J. Meenach bridge when they got separated. The man said he was trapped underneath the bridge on the shore and believed his girlfriend was still out on the water.

Rescuers arrived on scene and had to use a spotlight to find the woman. They were also able to find the man and said both people could have found one another had it not be dark.

Crews said this was the second rescue of the day in the same area. They also rescued a man and a woman from a crash down a steep embankment next to the bridge earlier Monday afternoon.
