Crime, News

Alert citizens are to thank for the arrest of two men on felony charges of Burglary and Theft on Tuesday afternoon.

A UPS driver and Valleyford neighbor noticed two men acting suspicious in the 12500 block of South Madison Rd on Monday. The men drove off in a tan minivan after they realized they were being watched. The neighbor checked his garage and found items missing.

The same vehicle was spotted later that day in the 12300 block of East Dishman Mica Rd. A second victim says their surveillance camera was stolen from their fence around the same time.

The mini van’s license plate was relayed to Crime Check after both incidents and they matched.

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the two incidents on Tuesday. Deputy Brent Gartett located the two men identified as Devynn J. Whitman, 19, and Kory A. Tolefson, 20. They were interviewed, arrested and then booked into Spokane County Jail on felony charges.

The stolen property was located and returned by Detective Bob Sola to the first victim. The stolen surveillance camera has yet to be located.
