Mail thieves target south Spokane | Crime
From the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office:
Over the past couple weeks, numerous residents of south Spokane County have had their mail stolen out of their mailboxes. The majority of these incidents involve the suspects opening mail near the victim's residence and discarding items with no value.
Christmas cards seem to be the primary target where the suspects are checking to see if there has been any cash sent to the victim. Another common target are packages delivered to homes that are left on the front porch when nobody is there to accept the item.
The Sheriff's Office would like to urge citizens to make every attempt to have someone at their residence to accept delivered packages or set up alternate methods of receiving the packages other than on their front porch.
For outgoing mail, be cautious of placing bills in the mailbox and raising the flag for delivery personnel. And finally, if you see suspicious vehicles or people in your neighborhood please make a Crime Check report with any vehicle and or suspect description you can safely provide.
