Four teachers receive classroom grants from STCU | Community Spirit
Four area teachers were surprised this week with a $500 classroom grant from Spokane Teachers Credit Union. Over 2,000 teachers entered a drawing for the grants during 23 back to school events that STCU held for educators in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.
The money can be used in any way the teachers choose to enhance the classroom experience for their students. The following teachers received surprise announcements at their schools this week:
- Randy Degenhart, first and second grade teacher at Liberty Elementary School in Spokane County.
- Shawnna Breach, special education and response to intervention, Lakeland Junior High in Rathdrum, Idaho.
- Katie Barone, kindergarten teacher at Salnave Elementary School in the Cheney School District.
- Phil Plesek, science and bio med teacher, Central Valley High School in Spokane Valley.
This is third consecutive year that STCU has held the drawing for the grants.
