After School Participation in Spokane County Students

More high school seniors in Spokane County are participating in after-school activities. In a study by Community Indicators, a group from Eastern Washington University, they analyzed data from 2010 and compared it from information from 2006 and 2008. Students in grades 8 and 10 dropped during the four years measured. When compared to the State's participation level in students, 8th graders in Spokane County surpassed while 10th and 12th graders did not peak past the State's level.

Spokane County Jail Bursting At The Seams

A busy Memorial Day weekend turned into an overflow of inmates at the Spokane County Jail.

Emergency booking status was put into full effect Sunday. When the inmate population hits 620 for more than 24 hours, the jail limits the types of misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor charges it will accept.

To give you an idea of how serious the situation is, the Spokane County Jail is designed to hold 462 inmates.
